The parts A R Casting produces are made in vulcanized
rubber molds like these.
Our technicians layout copies of the part to be made on a rubber
mold.
The rubber mold is then placed in a
vulcanizer. Heat and pressure produce a two-piece mold that
perfectly reproduces the items to be cast.
The mold is then loaded into the casting machine and molten metal
is poured through a hole in the center. Centrifugal force makes
the metal flow though all the passages of the mold.
After only a moment, the mold can be removed from the casting
machine and the halves separated, and the parts can be removed.
The last step in the production process is tumbling the parts
to deburr and polish them. A tub
is filled with an appropriate abrasive medium, and the castings
are added.
As shown below, either ceramic beads or metal shot are used depending
on the desired finish.
It takes years of experience to execute each one
of these steps correctly and efficiently- and that's what
A R Casting can bring to your job: expert execution and
quality finish. Every job we put out gets the same care, whether
it is a huge several thousand piece order or a small run
of your specialty design. Call us to discuss an estimate!
